Product story
Instow is a popular little village in North Devon nestled on the estuary where the rivers Torridge and Taw meet. It lies directly opposite the fishing port of Appledore. It has a narrow white sand beach backed by sand dunes, the beach grows as the tide drops back to reveal the rivers sand banks. The Tarka Trail runs straight through the village making it popular stop off spot for cyclists. Instow is most popular with dog walkers...you'll find plenty of people hanging out with their furry friends throughout the year!
Our pretty Instow bead takes inspiration from the river and beach on the estuary. We’ve used a light Amber glass to portray the sandy beach and sand dunes. We then wrapped a layer of speciality glass called New Ivory around the centre of the bead and heated it...this represents the ever changing sand banks of the estuary where the two rivers meet the sea. The bead is then decorated with little dots of amber to give it texture and the shape of the surrounding sand dunes.
These beads are individually handmade in our studio in Braunton, North Devon. Please expect there to be variations in our beads...this is what makes your Nalu Bead unique!
